The Masseria Cervarolo is an absolute favourite. A place where it is really very, very difficult to leave – it is just the perfect place to stay a whole week. There are these hotels with the good mixture of “being at home with a friend” and discreet service, which simply comes across as wonderfully unobtrusive. The country hotel, run by Teo with great attention to detail, is at home in the middle of the Itria Valley and takes you to a spacious property surrounded by a rural community around Chiobbica. This begins in the morning with a delicious breakfast, which is probably a good choice for any product in the region and cannot be compared in every respect with what is otherwise usual. You can see and feel the passion of the owners in every detail. After breakfast it is best to move on to the centre of the Masseria – the spacious pool where you can read, swim and chill. For the more enterprising, the ‘white town’ of Ostuni is just a stone’s throw away, as are Martina Franca and Cisternino, the nicest towns on the plain. If you wish, the Masseria can also organise very nice cooking courses and wine tastings. Oh and in the adjoining small chapel awaits a true pearl of the Baroque, take a look here!
